Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don't know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.

Spending Valentine's Day at a burlesque bar, hadn't been Liliana's ideal way of spending a Friday night. She'd much rather be back on campus doing homework ... until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can't keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she's intrigued.

Ryan's got demons, and they're deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he's tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven't been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determine she'll not only save his body, but his soul too.

This is their moment ...

Thank you to Marie Hall Publishing via NetGalley for supplying me with this eBook in exchange for a review. Nothing has been gained to alter my opinion of this book.

I loved the beginning of this book. I love that the novel began when both main characters were younger and it left me reeling that they met and had a moment long before they ever "truly met". But that's about as far as my love for this book went.

I don't know what it is about the book, but there was something missing. Something about the characters that made me lose interest. They frustrated me and their back and forward liking each other, but I can't be with them, was not endearing. I also am not a fan of stories that change the POV of characters frequently, or even at all, and I think this made me biased about the story from the beginning.

It's a raw emotional book and I didn't realise just how deep it was, but it struck all the wrong places for me. When it was meant to be tearing me up, I was cranky and when my heart strings were meant to be tugging my brain kept saying they're not doing this story line justice. I just didn't feel that their relationship grew naturally enough. It felt forced at times and fake.

Though I must include here that Liliana was a woman that I was proud to read about. She was strong and supportive to her family and did everything in her power to be an amazing mother and daughter. I just found her relationship with Ryan and even Alex frustrating. Take the males out of the picture and she's the sort of young woman that girls can look to as a role model.

I know I didn't enjoy this story, but I think there are plenty of people out there that will. It has a powerful and raw motive behind the writing and I think I just didn't hear the message being told by the author, but I am 100% certain that people out there will adore this.

I'm unsure as to whether I will continue on with the next installment of this series but I'm interested to read other Marie Hall books and she is an extraordinarily good writer, I just didn't necessarily enjoy this particular read.

Even though there were aspects I just couldn't get into, this is still a good book. I guess it just wasn't for me. For this, I rate A Moment 3/5 stars.

Review: Delirium by Susan Kaye Quinn

Title: Delirium (Soul Collector, #1)
Author: Susan Kaye Quinn
Release Date: March 20th 2013
Source: All Night Reads via NetGalley

What's your life worth on the open market?
A debt collector can tell you precisely.

Lirium plays the part of the grim reaper well, with his dark trench-coat, jackboots, and the black marks on his soul that every debt collector carries. He's just in it for his cut, the ten percent of the life energy he collects before he transfers it on to the high potentials, the people who will make the world a better place with their brain, their work, and their lives. That hit of life energy, a bottle of vodka, and a visit from one of Madam Anastazja's sex workers keep him alive, stable, and mostly sane ... until he collects again. But when his recovery ritual is disrupted by a sex worker who isn't what she seems, he has to choose between doing an illegal hit for a girl whose story has more holes than his soul or facing the bottle alone - a dark pit he's not sure he'll be able to climb out of again.

Jade's Book Nook

Welcome to my Book Nook!

I'm not sure if anyone will ever read this, but I've been reading other blogs on their book reviews and decided I wanted to get in on the action.

I'm a 20 year old book loving nurse and I have adored reading ever since I was young. The first real book without pictures I ever unfortunately picked up to read was one of my Mum's Danielle Steel romance novels. Suffice to say I had no idea what was going on at 9 years old, but I got the general gist and have never been able to look at Danielle Steel novel's the same way since. Thankfully, I broadened my horizon's on reading and began reading things more appropriate to my age group. I've got 10 years of hundreds and hundreds of books under my belt and would love to share my experiences of them with people. I'll tell you all about myself in another post, but right now I'm back to reading!

Much love, Jade :)
